Attic Insulation
How attic insulation helps your home
Warm air rises, and in a Michigan winter it rises straight into an under-insulated attic and out through the roof. That is why the attic is usually the fastest, most affordable place to start cutting your energy bills.
Midwest Insulation installs blown-in cellulose insulation, which we call the “Greenest of the Green,” to the depth your home needs. Loose-fill cellulose settles into every corner and around joists, wiring and pipes, where batts leave gaps.
Before we add insulation we look for the air leaks around light fixtures, vents, chimneys and attic hatches. Sealing those first makes the new insulation work much better.
Lower heating bills
Keeping heat in the living space means your furnace runs shorter cycles all winter.
Even temperatures
Bedrooms and upstairs rooms stop swinging between too hot and too cold.
Fewer ice dams
A cold, well-insulated roof deck keeps snow from melting and refreezing at the eaves.
No cost. No pressure.

How much attic insulation does a Michigan home need?
Michigan homes generally need much deeper attic insulation than older homes were built with. During your free estimate we measure what you have now and recommend the depth that fits your home.
Can you add insulation on top of what I already have?
In most cases, yes. If the existing insulation is dry and in good shape, we can blow new cellulose right over it. If it is wet, moldy or damaged, we will tell you before any work starts.
How long does an attic insulation job take?
Most attic jobs are finished in a single day, and you can stay home while we work.
Is blown-in cellulose safe?
Yes. Cellulose is made from recycled paper fibers and treated for fire and pest resistance.
Client success stories
Homeowners feel the difference the first cold night
“I hired Midwest to spray a bonus room, add insulation in my attic area, put a membrane liner in my crawl spaces, as well as spray my rim joists. I heat with a wood boiler system and have only had to add wood to my boiler once in a week (normally fill it once a day). Everything I was promised was delivered on. I would recommend these guys to anyone.”
“Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. The Field Service Engineer who came on site took the time to explain details to me. My testing was thorough and performed with state of the art test equipment. Pricing was very reasonable for the work performed. Will use them again!”
“Midwest Insulation did a great job with encapsulation and insulation on the crawlspace under my home. They are very reasonably priced, timely and efficient. The crawlspace is now clean, dry, cobweb and bug free and all white. I would recommend Midwest Insulation to everyone.”
